JOBSEEKERS COURSE JOB: HOW TO FIND WORK (AND GET RIGHT AT THE FIRST TRY)
Last March the second course of the year organized by the Business Club of Pedralbes took place. We recall that the first course was Business 360, which gave attendees a glimpse of how it is to work in three sectors: consulting, banking and the world of entrepreneurs.
This second course Jobseekers: Finding work (and right first), focused on how to facilitate entry into the labour market and differentiate themselves from other candidates. The course began with a very clear idea of Professor Iñigo Gallo: “Job search is a job”. Iñigo Gallo, professor of Business Management at IESE Business School, also stressed the importance of networking (according to experts, only 25% of jobs are posted on the Internet) and perseverance throughout the search.
We also had the presentation by Mr. Jaume Nunez, the Director of Business Development at IESE. It was a practice session in which, among other things, he gave us advice on how to improve the CV, have a good profile on LinkedIn and how to write an appealing letter presentation.
The last meeting was with Mr. Xavier Sarrias, Sales Manager of Europe at Blanver Farmoquímica. He stressed the importance of working during the summers for two reasons: to stand out from the other candidates in the selection process and to discover what we like to work. He also told us how he found his first jobs thanks to follow closely the processes and to press companies in order to show interest.
Also present were Ms. Almudena Gallo and Ms. Patricia Ferrando, HR professionals, complementing sessions with specific comments taken from his experience as recruiters.
Coming soon, the CEP team will meet to design the course program of next year.
